Student of PERSEVERANCE
Jessica Beebe
Southern Elementary School

I would like to nominate Jessica for perseverance.  Jessica has experienced an extremely difficult school year.  She has watched the father she loved dearly suffer and loose his battle with cancer.  She has watched her mother struggle to hold things together during his illness and memorial.  Jessica has been strong and brave and persevered in an adult manner.  She has kept up with her studies and put on a happy face even when it was sometimes very difficult.   She has shared in class discussions when it was all she could do to keep from becoming emotional.  Her bravery and ability to overcome these obstacles makes her the perfect candidate for perseverance.

Adult of PERSEVERANCE
Tammie Wesley
Southern Middle School

Mrs. Tammie Wesley demonstrates perseverance through her hard work and dedication to her job and to her school.  In October of 2006, Mrs. Wesley was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began taking treatments soon afterwards.  Throughout this time, Mrs. Wesley continued to come to work as much as she possibly could.  She showed perseverance through this dedication to her school even though she didn’t feel well.  These treatments continued until November of 2007.  Mrs. Wesley is now doing fine and continues to serve her school.

Mrs. Wesley’s attitude demonstrates perseverance because she didn’t complain and always kept a positive attitude. She continued to work as much as she could throughout her treatments.  She not only performed her job as attendance secretary, but also contributed to dealing with any other office issues that needed to be done.

Mrs. Wesley affects those around her because she continued to work and kept a positive attitude with all of those numerous colleagues, parents, and students with whom she came into contact. She is a role model for all of those around her to have perseverance to continue living despite her health problems.
