Family Activity:

  • Help put up the decorations for the holidays.

  • Talk about how your family had adapted to different changes.

  • Take this chance to make a list of things your family does together and discuss ways to make them more enjoyable.

Class Activity:

  • Discuss how important cooperation is in your students’ daily lives. Good topics of discussion include the workings of a sports team.

  • Talk about when the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock and how they had to adapt to their new country. 

  • Talk about the first Thanksgiving and how the Native Americans and Pilgrims had to adapt to each other and sharing the land.

  • Have your students put on short skits showing people cooperating to deal with a major change.

  • Discuss how as students, they adjust to change every school year.

High School Activity:

  • Discuss why the willingness to change is essential for a democratic government and society to function.

  • Discuss why adaptability is essential for a business to function.

  • Under what circumstances is it wrong for a person to adapt to cooperate with another person or an organization.
